Last week September 26, 2012, John Emil Escobar of III-GOLD
had discover a shortcut/a function for solving two variable x and y including
the Σx2, Σx, Σy, Σy2, Σxy, solving the
correlation coefficient r and values of A and B for the regression line for
those who do not have a natural display calculator…
First, set the mode of your calculator to Reg mode by
pressing the mode function 2 times.
Then press 2 for Reg.
Next, press 1 for Lin.
When entering the Data, use a comma to separate the two
values, x and y.
1 2
2 4
3
6
4
8
then press M+
button of your calculator, then enter the next data then press
again M+ and so on until you have entered all the
data.
After you have entered all the data, press shift
+ S-SUM for the summation of the variables.
Press 1 for the summation of the square of x.
Press 2 for the summation of x.
For the summation of y, xy and y2…press the right arrow
button.
Press 1 for the summation of the square of y.
Press 2 for the summation of y.
Press 3 for the summation of the product of x and y.
In finding the value of r, a and b, press shift
+ S-VAR
then,
press the right arrow button two times until your screen looks like this;
Press 1 for the value of a
Press 2 for value of b
Press 3 for the correlation coefficient r
Even if you turn off your calculator, the data have been
saved in your calculators memory. To enter another set of data you must first
clear the previous data. In order the clear the previous data, press shift +
mode
Press 1 to clear the previous data you have entered.
Thanks to John Emil Escobar, through his effort, it is easier for us and to those who do not have a natural display calculator to solve some statistical method.
